The 2024 total solar eclipse was watched by at least 30 million people in the US who stared in wonder at the moon blocking out the sun for a few minutes.
Now that the celestial event has ended, many are wondering when the next one will grace the nation’s skies.
The next total solar eclipse will not take place until March 30, 2033, but Alaska will be the only North American region to witness it.
On August 23, 2044, however, another will sweep across Montana and North Dakota - Americans will not see another solar eclipse like the one on Monday until 2045.

The 2024 total solar eclipse was watched by at least 30 million people in the US who started in wonder at the moon blocking out the sun for a few minutes.
Monday’s event was visible across parts of 15 states - from Texas up to Maine - and it will not be until August 12, 2045 when much of the US will be in the path of totality.
Total solar eclipses happen every one to three years somewhere around the world, but about every 12 years in America.
This year’s eclipse began in the middle of the Pacific, with people on the Cook Islands being the first to witness the phenomenon, and swept across North America, reaching Mexico next.
The eclipse was cutting diagonally from Texas to Maine, before exiting over eastern Canada into the Atlantic.
The next major one in the nation will start in California and move east to end in Florida, similar to what happened in 2017.

National Eclipse shared a map showing the path of totality for 2045, which will also extend to the Caribbean and South America.
The maximum duration of totality for the eclipse will be six minutes and six seconds, compared to the four minutes and 24 seconds that occurred on Monday.
As it moved across The Lone Star State, the total eclipse was visible in Dallas for three minutes and 51 seconds.
Oklahoma was next at around 1:45pm CT, followed by Arkansas at 1:51pm ET and Missouri about five minutes after.
Illinois is next in line along the path of totality, with Carbondale experiencing the solar eclipse at around 1:59pm CT and Paducah, Kentucky about one minute later.
And Evansville, Indiana at 2:02CT and then Ohio is expected to witness it at around 3:13pm ET.
State officials have estimated that up to 556,000 people will be visiting the Buckeye State.
